As a child, artist Galina Ponomarenko played a game where she would approach and step away from the surface of a painting. From up close, her eyes would observe the blotches of colour; then, when stepping away, she enjoyed watching the image emerge—an image initially hidden within the dabbles of paint. This game captured her imagination and led her to eventually become an artist and art instructor for kids. Since then, Ponomarenko has extensively exhibited in Ottawa, Canada and Moscow, Russia.
