This oil painting, dating from 1980, is painted by Canadian artist Rita Joubert.
Originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick, Rita Joubert lived in Rimouski, Quebec, from the 1960s onwards. She exhibited throughout Quebec including at the Galerie d'art du Cégep de Rimouski (n.d.) and at the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, Rivière du Loup (1984).
Clément Rodrigue wrote in 1979 that Rita Joubert offers “very expressive characters, from for all ages, attitudes and everyday gestures. She expresses through her use of colour, her application and her personality as a femme silencieuse.”
